Horror-comedy hybrid film Curse in a Frame, headlined by Enola Holmes (2020) actress Susan Wokoma, has just wrapped filming. From the U.K. based New State Pictures, the film tells the real story of a painting that, with every purchase, leads to strange events until it is inevitably returned to the same eerie Hastings shop.

A return of a fan-favorite. Desmond Harrington, who played detective Joey Quinn in the original Dexter series, is returning for Dexter: Resurrection S2 as a series regular. Quinn was one of the few characters who deeply investigated Dexter, and we may be seeing Dexter’s ghosts of the past catch up to him.

Netflix’s limited series adaptation of Harlan Coben’s bestseller I Will Find You casts Vas Saranga (CBC Gem’s You’re My Hero) in a recurring role. Joining Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Severance’s Britt Lower, The Handmaid’s Tale actor will play an agent part of the FBI Fugitive Task Force.

Luke Kleintank (FBI: International) joins Fox’s drama series The Interrogator. The show will follow a former MI6 agent and his elite team as they try to negotiate with the world’s most dangerous criminals.

Sorry Baby’s Naomi Ackie and Wuthering Heights’ Alison Oliver have wrapped production on To Make Ends Meat, a thriller-drama feature ahead of its launch at the Cannes Market. They each star as a woman in debt to despicable men, determined to survive in whatever ways necessary. The film is the sophomore feature from Luna Carmoon (Venice-winning Hoard) with Goodfellas attached to handle all international sales.

Orville “Shaggy” Burrell joins Amazon MGM’s Honeymoon with Harry. Based on a book by Bart Baker, the film will follow a down-to-earth man (Jake Gyllenhaal) who ends up sharing a trip with his fiancée’s overprotective father (Kevin Costner). No word on Burrell’s role yet, but he is the second musical artist to join this project, following British pop star Rita Ora.

Country singer-songwriter Morgan Wade joins Paramount+’s Yellowstone spinoff, Dutton Ranch. The series follows Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) as they leave Yellowstone for Texas, only to be followed by the same troubles they found back home. Wade will play Carol, a local bartender at the local watering hole in Rio Paloma, Texas.

Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife) joins the cast of Hulu’s Paradise S3. Created by Dan Fogelman, the show follows a murder investigation taking place in a serene community inhabited by the world’s wealthiest individuals. No info on her role.

Austin Amelio (Dwight in AMC’s The Walking Dead) joins FX’s The Lowdown S2. The show follows a citizen journalist, Lee Raybon (Ethan Hawke), as he fights corruption and crime in the city of Tulsa. No info yet on his role, but we loved and hated him as Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) right-hand man in The Walking Dead franchise. Amelio is great at depicting deeply conflicted characters, committing heinous crimes while all the while letting the audience know he feels the full range of guilt for his actions.

Apple TV’s newest thriller series Safe Houses casts Game of Thrones’ Tobias Menzies alongside Jennifer Connelly and Ana de Armas. Menzies was recently seen as the smarmy, fast-talking tech bro in F1: The Movie, having a lot of fun playing a character you love to hate. In Safe Houses, he’ll star as Connelly’s husband, with production ongoing.

Disney+’s Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is bringing back a familiar face with the return of Gregg Sulkin (MTV’s Faking It). The heartthrob will guest star as werewolf Mason Greyback, reprising the role from the original series. The third and final season will drop sometime this summer.

Mean Girls’ Jonathan Bennett is making his daytime television return on ABC’s General Hospital. A full circle moment for the actor who began his career on All My Children; he will make his GH debut this May.

Richard Harmon (Final Destination Bloodlines) to star in horror thriller A Most Delightful Game. Set in the 1980s, the film follows a young woman’s investigation of her sister’s death that leads her to a death-plagued highway. This film will be the theatrical directorial debut for Boman Modine (Amazon Prime’s Dark/Web), who has mainly worked in TV. No info on Harmon’s role, but we would love to see him in a nonchalant role whose intensity suddenly gets dialed up to max – similar to his performance as tattoo artist Erik in Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025).

Josh Charles (Best Medicine) joins Netflix drama The 99’ers. The series follows the true story of the 1999 U.S. Women’s soccer team, which won the FIFA Women’s World Cup against China. Charles will join an ensemble cast led by Zoey Deutch (Zombieland: Double Tap).

Tom Pelphrey (Ozark) joins Apple’s sci-fi action thriller Liminal. Based on the AWA graphic novel Telepaths, the film explores a world in which a tenth of Earth’s population suddenly gains telepathic powers, and the newly telepathic Boston Police force has to deal with it. He will star alongside Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman franchise)

The star of I Love LA, Rachel Sennott, is the newest addition to Kockroach, the ensemble crime film from Captain Fantastic director Matt Ross. Sennott will play a supporting role opposite Chris Hemsworth and Alec Baldwin in a story that dives into New York City’s criminal underworld. Filming begins in Australia next week.

Emma Elle Paterson (The Boys) will star and produce thriller Candy. The film is described as a genre-bending thriller, directed by Jessica Michael Davis (Escaping Ohio), who will also star in the film. The film will follow a young woman who goes through a body transformation into a persona of Candy, who becomes a seductive yet dangerous being.

Grammy-nominated artist Tyga is making his feature debut in musical drama Baby, You’re a Star. Madison Bailey (Outer Banks) and Ashton Sanders (Moonlight) will star alongside Tyga. Set in 1989, the film will follow a young artist as he struggles to escape his environment and achieve musical stardom.

Comedic actor Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine) is giving another genre a chance, joining Netflix’s thriller An Innocent Girl. From director Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan), the film follows a young woman who gets manipulated by a high-powered D.C. couple. Corddry’s role is unknown, but he’ll be joining Kerry Washington and Colman Domingo.

Sadie Calvano (Mom) and Gabe Gibbs (Schooled) join the main cast of the untitled NBC comedy pilot. The show has Katey Sagal (Futurama) and Jane Lynch (Glee) as its leads, following two friends-turned-foes who run into each other at a mutual ex’s funeral.

“You’ve got a real attitude problem, McFly.” - James Tolkan as Vice Principal Gerald Strickland in Back to the Future (1985). James Tolkan, the man behind the cigar-chomping naval commander in Top Gun (1986), has died at 94. A legendary character actor, Tolkan carved out a niche of playing stern authority figures from Miami Vice to Masters of the Universe (1987). His on-screen work has left a lasting imprint on generations of filmgoers, myself included.

TV actor Ed Bernard best known as an undercover cop on NBC’s Police Woman (1974-78) has died at 86. The Philadelphia native made a number of notable TV appearances on shows like NYPD Blue and ER, getting his next big role in the CBS drama The White Shadow as a principal of an inner-city high school.

Three-time Tony nominee Mary Beth Hurt (Six Degrees of Separation) has died from her decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her first onscreen role was opposite Diane Keaton as the sensitive sister Joey in Woody Allen’s Interiors, he would go on to have a long career going back and forth between the stage and the screen.

Gemma Chua-Tran (Heartbreak High) joins the cast of Netflix’s Gundam film. She will star alongside Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), and Michael Mando (Spider-Man: Brand New Day). No info on role.

Amazon MGM’s thriller feature Bishop has cast Harry Treadaway (Showtime’s Penny Dreadful) alongside Joel Kinnaman and John Malkovich. The show will follow a battle-scarred homicide detective who suspects none other than his father is involved in a series of horrifying murders.

Alex Wolff (Hereditary) and Jim Gaffigan (Troop Zero) will lead fantasy dramedy Outside of Cleveland. The film will follow a songwriter’s homecoming to Cleveland, where he is transported back in time to his teenage years.

LuckyChap reteams with scene-stealing Wuthering Heights actress Alison Oliver for Irish period film Bad Bridgets, replacing Daisy Edgar-Jones (Twisters). She’ll play one of many troublemaking Irish emigrants who wreaked havoc in 19th-century New York.

Rob Lowe has his sights set on love. The Parks and Recreation actor is joining Amazon MGM’s untitled romcom led by Stephen Merchant and Cameron Diaz. Written by Merchant, he’ll play a workaholic who hires a failed comedian (Diaz) to play his wife, which turns into an unexpected, whirlwind romance. Filming is underway.

Grace Beedie (Zero Chill) and David Arquette (Scream 7) star in Indie pic Crazy Sunshine: The Mess We Made. Inspired by true events, the film follows a teen navigating family instability, addiction, and mental health struggles.

Netflix’s City Hunter 2 is on the way. Based on the legendary manga series of the same name, the City Hunter franchise follows a private detective as he shoots his way through Shinjuku. The original cast will be back for the sequel.

Tony and Emmy-winning Judith Light (Transparent) has joined Amazon, MGM Studios, and Point Grey Pictures untitled romantic comedy feature. Light is joining a large ensemble led by Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant in a fake marriage that ends in a hilariously unexpected romance. Filming began earlier this month.

The Studio S2 keeps adding guest stars: Madonna, Alberto Barbera (director of Venice Film Festival), Michael Keaton, Julia Garner, etc.

Stavros Halkias (Bugonia) joins Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) in the cast for Judd Apatow’s (This is 40) country music comedy. Halkias will play the music agent of Powell’s character. With a long career in stand-up comedy, Halkias has proved his comedic chops can shine on the big screen with his role as a weird police officer in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia (2026). The film is set to premiere in February 2027.

Ed Bernard (Police Woman, The White Shadow) dies at 86. Ever since making his film debut in Shaft (1971), Bernard appeared in many films and TV series episodes, including Cool Million, Love Story, and Kojak. He will be missed.

“Leave Me Alone” singer Renée Rapp is making her return to acting in Apple TV’s The Morning Show. The Sex Lives of College Girls actress, in a major role, will play Samantha, a new, rising face in UBN’s news division for the show’s upcoming fifth season.

The Fabelmans (2022) breakout and Saturday Night (2024) actor Gabriel LaBelle is joining Not Safe for Life, a dark comedy Like Taxi Driver but set in the age of social media. LaBelle will play a man fighting off nasty internet trolls to defend the honor of a girl who doesn’t even know he exists. Production is set to begin this week in Bulgaria.

From the stage to the station, Patti LuPone (Agatha All Around) is joining CBS’s Elsbeth as a guest star on its third season. Not too far off from her real-life persona, LuPone will play Ruby Lane, a legendary New York cabaret performer who kills both onstage and off.

Marton Csokas has been cast as Halle Berry’s husband in the drama feature Fleur. The actor is best known as the ruthless foe to Denzel in the original The Equalizer (2014) and will now play Berry’s husband of thirty years, whom she suddenly leaves to reinvent herself in Paris. Production is beginning this week.

Jon Abrahams (Meet the Parents, Scary Movie) stars with Felissa Rose (Terrifier 2) and Lew Temple (The Walking Dead) in the new thriller Fractured. The film will follow a man with anxiety who begins to suspect that his reality is being manipulated. Sage O’Bryant will direct the psychological thriller.

Felix Solis (Ozark) joins the NBC reboot of The Rockford Files. Solis will play an L.A. defense attorney and the best friend of Rockford (played by David Boreanaz). The show follows James Rockford as he returns to being a private investigator in Los Angeles.

Yellowjackets has upped Jenna Burgess to a series regular role ahead of its fourth and final season. Burgess joined the survival series in its second season, quickly becoming a fan favorite as the teenage Melissa, played by Hilary Swank in the alternating adult timeline. The anticipated return of the Showtime series is slated for early 2027.

A new generation of Mystery Inc. is coming. Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Scooby-Doo will have Tanner Hagen (The Pitt) as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson (Carousel) as Velma Dinkley, Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) as Fred Jones, and Mckenna Grace (Regretting You, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire) as Daphne Blake. This means that we will get to see the youngest version of the live-action Mystery Inc. yet to date, with the cast’s average age being 19, which is accurate to the original 1969 Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! series.

Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon) will lead Last Train Home. The film will follow Eve, who reconnects with a childhood friend at the brink of death due to cancer.

Action-comedy feature Boyz Trip adds Emmy winner Rome Flynn (How To Get Away With Murder) and Euphoria breakout Algee Smith. Just as the title says the film follows a boys trip with old college friends that spirals into international chaos. Character specifics are unknown with production ongoing in Cape Town, South Africa.

Indie drama Somedays adds Rent’s Tracie Thoms (The Devil Wears Prada 2) to its ensemble cast alongside Pamela Anderson, Ariana Greenblatt, and Billy Bob Thornton. The film follows the unlikely bond between a troubled teen girl and a dying delivery driver.

Fox’s Baywatch reboot casts Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell in a recurring role. Her character, Trina, believe it or not, was a successful lawyer who gave it all up to dedicate herself to lifeguarding full-time. Shooting will start this fall, set to premiere summer of 2027.

Martin Sensmeier (Yellowstone) joins AMC’s Dark Winds S5. Sensmeier is reported to play Terry Bai, a Vietnam War veteran turned race track worker. This season will have him reunite with lead Zahn McClarnon (The Last Manhunt.)

Rose Leslie joins Leo Woodall and Sydney Sweeney in StudioCanal’s movie adaptation of Edith Wharton’s period drama The Custom of the Country. No word on her role, but Leslie is great in everything from GOT to HBO’s The Time Traveler’s Wife.

HBO’s long-awaited fourth season of The Gilded Age ups Kelley Curran into a series regular role. She joined the show at the very beginning as Turner, soon to be Mrs. Enid Winterton, an ambitious former lady’s maid and new, but confident socialite. New additions Dallas Roberts (Walk the Line) and Elizabeth Marvel (Presumed Innocent).

Shameless actress Ruby Modine joins the cast of indie coming of age Sicklerville. The 2010s drama follows a group of friends during one destructive night in their hometown where their ugly pasts come back to haunt them. Filming will begin this spring in South Jersey entirely on 16mm.

Fox’s Baywatch reboot starts announcing its cast. Newcomer Jessica Belkin (Amazon’s Elle) will play Charlie Vale, the granddaughter of Mitch Buchannon (played by David Hasselhoff in the original). Vale is described as fearless and passionate, determined to live up to the Buchannon’s family legacy as the Palisades newest lifeguard.

The Hunger Games’ Isabelle Fuhrman has joined Netflix’s The 99’ers, an ensemble drama feature following the 1999 U.S. Women’s Soccer team. The Orphan actress is joining Zoey Deutch who will play the risk taking soccer executive who led the team to success.

Another day another Peter Krause led show. The Six Feet Under actor has joined NBC’s new drama pilot, Protection, his return to NBC over a decade since family drama Parenthood wrapped up. Protection follows a series of law enforcement agents who become the target of a mysterious assassin.

A wicked reprisal. David Chokachi is returning for Fox’s Baywatch reboot series returning as the humorous heartthrob Cody Madison. In a recurring role, Madison will act as a mentor and friend to younger lifeguards, occasionally putting on the red trunks himself. Filming is slated to begin on Venice Beach this spring.

Timothy Olyphant’s heart of pure evil on Apple TV+’s Stick returns. Olyphant played Owen Wilson’s nemesis. He was slick and nasty, and he’s returning as a series regular on Season 2. Same with Wilson’s ex on the show, Judy Greer. Hurray!

Indie drama Vivien & The Florist, about famed actress Vivien Leigh (A Streetcar Named Desire), has wrapped filming. Carla Gugino (Sin City) plays the titular Gone with the Wind star, sharing the screen opposite Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket) as a Philadelphia florist who forms an unexpected connection with the actress.

Bones actress Emily Deschanel is reunited with her costar David Boreanaz in Fox’s new untitled drama series, twenty-one years after the crime procedural came to a close. The show centers on a visionary psychologist (Deschanel) who focuses on victims rather than perpetrators to solve some of the FBI’s most baffling cases.

CBS comedy Ghosts adds Emmy winner Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere) to its cast. Most recently seen on Apple TV’s Pluribus, Hiller will play a server extraordinaire described as a little sensitive and intense, a guest spot well-suited to the actor’s signature off-kilter warmth. Eighth Grade breakout actress Elsie Fisher joins indie horror NightFlirt. Now an adult, Fisher has continued embracing indie flicks, appearing alongside Rose Byrne in last year’s Tribeca title Tow (2025). The college-set stalker story, NightFlirt, will start filming sometime this spring.

Emilia Pérez’s Edgar Ramírez has signed on to Baton, an underdog soccer story and feature directorial debut of actor Danny Ramirez. It looks like the kids were cast first, and now Ramírez, CODA’s Eugenio Derbez, and Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka) have joined, with filming ongoing in Atlanta.

Focus Features and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment are in talks with Corey Hawkins (BlacKkKlansman) and Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Mufasa) to star in the feature adaptation of Death of a Salesman. They would be joining a solid team of Jeffrey Wright, Octavia Spencer, and Till director Chinonye Chukwu attached to direct.

The MGM+ series Bosch: Start of Watch adds JD Pardo (Roadhouse, 2024) JD to its cast. He’ll play a professional thief and the older brother of Shameless actor Cameron Monaghan’s Bosch. The prequel show will begin filming this summer.

60s TV actress Lory Patrick (Bonanza) has died at 92. Besides her numerous TV appearances, Patrick also impressively wrote several episodes of the TV western Bonanza (1959-73) under a male pseudonym.

Kerry Washington is sticking with Netflix. The Scandal actress has joined thriller An Innocent Girl alongside James Marsden (Paradise) from director Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan). The past two years, Washington has starred in acclaimed Netflix films like Wake Up Dead Man (2025) and The Six Triple Eight (2024), with her new thriller project still casting.

Vikings actor Alexander Ludwig and Emma Roberts (American Horror Story) have joined the true story drama Hal from director Mark Williams (Ozark). The film looks at the founding of Convoy of Hope, the hugely successful humanitarian organization started by down-on-his-luck journalist Hal Donaldson (Ludwig).

Indie horror film Remnant casts Sons of Anarchy’s Kim Coates as a wanted man. Coates will play Niolai, a father who disappeared after being accused of a mass murder, with his daughter now facing the terrifying truth of her family. Remnant is currently filming in British Columbia.

The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Gavin Casalegno has found his next project with Sunflower Child after wrapping on the hit Amazon series this past fall. In the new romcom, Casalegno is playing a Hollywood director who falls for an up-and-coming screenwriter. Sunflower Child is currently filming in the U.K.

Jason Isaacs and Ben Foster join the Guy Ritchie universe for Layer Cake follow-up Viva La Madness. Previously cast are Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones, reuniting decades after Lock, Stock and Snatch.

Emmy-nominated Game of Thrones actor Alfie Allen is joining the second season of Amazon MGM+’s horror series The Institute (s1 trailer). Allen will play an eccentric European billionaire with ambitious plans. Production on the Stephen King series adaptation has just begun.

Another Game of Thrones star, Stephen Dillane, has joined Netflix’s next Luther film, a follow-up to Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023). Plot and character descriptions are under wraps, but the film will see Idris Elba’s Luther again thrust into the brutal London murder scene.

Zulay Henao joins Billy Bob Thornton and Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie) in Somedays, a feature written and directed by Brian Klugman (The Words). Henao has a lot of fun-loving energy (training Jay Pharoah clip), and it will be interesting to see her play something a bit darker.
