Banijay and RedBird IMI
Banijay and RedBird IMI’s All3Media have completed a blockbuster merger to create an $8bn global TV production powerhouse. The combined Banijay Entertainment will be 50/50 owned by Banijay Group and RedBird IMI, with Jeff Zucker serving as chairman, Marco Bassetti remaining CEO, and All3Media chief Jane Turton becoming deputy CEO. The London-headquartered company unites massive libraries spanning Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror, The Traitors, MasterChef, Big Brother, Survivor, and more.
An unexpected but welcome deal in European indie production, it comes not long after RedBird IMI acquired the U.K.-based All3Media in 2024. The new Banijay now stands as the largest independent producer worldwide, spanning 25 territories, more than 260,000 hours of content, and roughly €4.3bn in annual revenue. The merger signals a real effort from global production companies to band together across scripted, unscripted, live events, and digital to better compete with the streaming giants.
Mini Tidbits:
Bob McCourt, COO of Commercial and International of Fremantle (Prod Co: Got Talent TV shows), exits the company after nearly 30 years.
Michael Fassbender’s production company DMC expands its Irish reach after an investment from Fine Point Films (Prod Co: Kneecap, which won a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut for the director). The partnership will accelerate the slate of upcoming projects in the Irish and global markets.
