Japan has extended its 50% cash rebate production incentive through January 2026, offering up to JPY1 billion per project. This deal led to Chris Black's Monarch: Legacy of Monsters shooting there through Legendary Pictures. This objectively enticing deal could bring film presence and cash flow to a beloved location.
The production and distribution arm of France’s Canal+ Group, Studiocanal has promoted Zelda Camilleri to the role of Global Head of TV & SVOD Sales after almost a decade with the company. In addition to her duties in France, Camilleri will oversee sales across the company’s key territories like the U.K. and Germany.
German broadcaster ZDF and major UK TV network BBC have joined forces to produce premium drama series together, including the second season of Netflix’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (s1 trailer). In addition to the YA mystery series, the companies have also jointly commissioned the newly announced Honey, a flirty spy thriller from Sid Gentle Films. As two of Europe’s leading public service broadcasters, this partnership and the resources they both possess should inevitably lead to some really high-quality content in the future.
Warner Bros. Discovery is doing some reorganizing in deciding to merge its multiple streaming acquisitions teams into one division led by the newly promoted Royce Battleman. As EVP of global content acquisitions, Battleman will have oversight on content across all worldwide territories, prioritizing shaping strategies specifically for both Max and Disney+ content.
