Cannes adds four films to its line-up:
OFFICIAL SELECTION
Dir/Wri: Bi Gan (Long Day's Journey into Night)
Synopsis:
A woman whose consciousness falls into the eternal time zone during a surgical procedure. Trapped in many dreams, she finds an android corpse and tries to wake it up by telling endless stories.
Gan is a master of slow and surreal, lush and liminal imagery. We can’t wait to see this one.
OUT OF COMPETITION
Dir/Co-Writer: Martin Bourboulon (The Three Musketeers - Part I: D'Artagnan)
Synopsis:
Afghan troops guard French embassy during Taliban takeover of Kabul. Tasked with evacuating 500 people to airport amid chaos, facing grave risks as they attempt desperate escape from falling city.
Watch the teaser and enter another world. Pure cinema. Tense action. High stakes. But grounded in the very real circumstances.
SPECIAL SCREENING
Dir/Co-Writer: Eugene Jarecki (Dir: Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winners: Why We Fight, The House I Live In)
Synopsis:
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange battled extradition to the U.S., where he could've faced a lengthy sentence for publishing classified documents. His case, centered on press freedom, took unexpected twists as it unfolded.
Jarecki directed the doc that shook the world, Why We Fight, about how there is no cost of war, there is only profit. We’ve seen a lot of Assange docs like We Steal Secrets (2013), and even narratives like the Benedict Cumberbatch vehicle The Fifth Estate, but through Jarecki’s lens, we may see it in a new context of the modern era.
