Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Mortal Kombat’s soul-stealing villain, has passed away at 75.
The actor leaves behind a legacy of iconic characters, from his breakout in The Last Emperor (1987) to big-budget American films like Pearl Harbor (2001) and Planet of the Apes (2001). Tagawa’s unforgettable presence across gritty war films, James Bond epics, and genre-defining martial arts cinema cemented him as a trailblazing figure in film, TV, and video games. He will be very missed, but his resume is stacked with once-in-a-lifetime performances that will forever be remembered and celebrated.

Adam Pally (Happy Endings) as controversial music manager Allen Klein
Five more actors were announced in supporting roles, but we’ll have to wait until April 2028 to see any of them on the big screen.
Indie comedy Transcendent follows two wellness gurus played by Catherine Cohen (The Twist …? She’s Gorgeous) and Heléne Yorke (The Other Two) as they seek healing after an ayahuasca disaster. Yorke was a standout as one of the duo leads in The Other Two. She played a social-climbing, social-media-obsessed sister in the shadow of her popstar brother. It’s pretty easy to see how she would thrive in this premise.
Happy Days actor Don Most has joined the indie TV series Write to Kill. He’s best known for playing comedic-relief sidekick Ralph Malph for seven seasons in the ’70s and ’80s hit, and his move to a gritty new series shows he’s still evolving, trading nostalgia for some more dramatic, bloody fare.
Newcomer Eldar Isgandarov has joined the feature film Reenactment alongside Benicio del Toro, Cameron Diaz, and Ana de Armas. Though his role and the plot remain under wraps, joining such a notable cast makes for an impressive first major film. Production begins in L.A. later this year.
