Three decades since they worked together on the seminal coming-of-age ABC show My So-Called Life, star Claire Danes and screenwriter Winnie Holzman are reuniting on an in-development HBO drama series, The Applebaum Curse.
While not a traditional reboot, the collaboration will certainly intrigue a certain generation, who were profoundly impacted by just the one season of My So-Called Life, which was unique for its accurate depiction of being a teenager acting as Danes's breakthrough role.
The actress is best known for the crime thriller series Homeland (2011-2020, s1 scene), which ran for a whopping eight seasons and garnered Danes several nominations for her portrayal of Carrie Mathison, a conflicted CIA agent.
The Rainmaker (1997) actress also received critical attention for her role opposite Jesse Eisenberg in Hulu’s light-hearted drama Fleishman Is in Trouble (2022). She is next set to star in the upcoming Netflix miniseries The Beast in Me due to release later this year.
The Applebaum Curse is described as a one-hour drama series that follows a dysfunctional family. In addition to starring, Danes will produce with Holzman who is penning the script and serving as showrunner.
