Disney. FilmNation. Sony.
FilmNation Entertainment has found its new COO with Andy Kim, a top executive from Participant Media. Kim will oversee all day-to-day operations, strategic planning, business development, and finance at the independent entertainment company. He joins as FilmNation is enjoying a wave of critical and commercial successes from this past year with Palme d’Or winner Anora and the recipient of the BAFTA’s Best Film Conclave. Kim will take over from Milan Popelka who, as reported yesterday, recently left the company to join Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap (Barbie).
Disney has appointed Daria Cercek as president of its theatrical live-action division, reporting to David Greenbaum. Previously at Paramount, she will oversee Disney’s live-action slate, including remakes and originals. The appointment follows a 2024 leadership shakeup that has led to a lot of new faces and talent over at Disney.
Mike Wald (EVP, International Distribution and Content Strategy) and Jason Spivak (Co-Head, North American Distribution) have been named Co-Presidents of Distribution & Networks for Sony Pictures Television, reporting to Chairman Keith Le Goy. They will oversee global TV and home entertainment distribution, including post-theatrical film distribution, multi-channel marketing, and international networks. Wald previously led Sony’s international content strategy, while Spivak played a key role in Sony’s Pay-1 deal with Netflix. Their leadership will shape the future of Sony, who distributes show like Breaking Bad, Outlander, Seinfeld, and the Spider-Man films.
