I Can Only Imagine a sequel… Well, Lionsgate has set a release date for I Can Only Imagine 2 following Bart Millard, the lead singer-songwriter behind the Christian rock group MercyMe. The director of the 2018 film (trailer), Andrew Erwin, is returning, and it will follow the early days of the band as they continue to both struggle and succeed. Actor John Michael Finley will reprise his role as Millard with Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us), singer-actor Trace Adkins, and Dennis Quaid (The Substance) when it premieres on Mar. 20th, 2026.
After a decade with the company, Lionsgate promoted Joel Meyer to EVP of worldwide production for TV. As EVP, he will oversee the studio’s premium scripted series and their North East offices. Meyer will succeed Gary Goodman, who, after almost two decades as a high executive at the studio, is seeking early retirement.
Margaret Atwood’s sequel story The Testaments finds its director in the Emmy-nominated Mike Barker for the upcoming MGM series. With the premiere of the sixth and final season (trailer) of Atwood’s harrowing story The Handmaid’s Tale looming, The Testaments takes place 15 years after the events in its predecessor. In addition to being a Handmaid’s alum, Barker has directed several episodes of the anthology series Fargo and the ITV hit Broadchurch.
Jeff Celentano and Warren Ostergard, the duo behind The Hill, reunite for A Bridge Between, a sports drama about injured basketball player Anthony Hodges’ emotional recovery with help from mentor Bobby Verdun. Based on a true story, the film begins shooting in Charlotte next month
