Golden Globe Winners.

The awards are considered a precursor to The Oscars. So, let’s get into the highlights of yesterday’s wins:

4 wins: One Battle After Another (Warner Bros.)

• Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy

• Best Screenplay (Paul Thomas Anderson)

• Best Director (Paul Thomas Anderson)

• Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture (Teyana Taylor)

Watching P.T. Anderson thank his late, great first AD, Adam Somner, was truly touching.

4 wins: Adolescence (Netflix)

• Best Limited Series

• Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on TV (Owen Cooper)

• Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series (Stephen Graham)

• Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on TV (Erin Doherty)

The biggest surprise of the night was Focus Features’ Hamnet clinching the award for Best Motion Picture Drama, besting Sinners (which picked up an award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Score). Hamnet also won Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, Jesse Buckley. She’s favored to win at the Oscars.

Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama

• Neon’s The Secret Agent

• Actor: Wagner Moura

• Trailer

Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama

• Rhea Seehorn for Apple TV and Sony’s Pluribus.

And a few well-deserved wins:

Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series

• Michelle Williams in FX’s Dying for Sex

Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

• Timothée Chalamet for A24’s Marty Supreme

Netflix and Warner Bros. earned 6 total wins each. HBO and Neon had 3. A24 and Apple had 2.

Interestingly, Neon’s Cannes Winner It Was Just an Accident got shut out by its own film, The Secret Agent.

And Netflix’s Frankenstein, which had 5 nominations left with 0 wins.
