Good morning: In today's edition of The Industry, we look at:
An X-rated walkout, Jackson’s new agent, Paolo Sorrentino gives us a tease, TIFF’s Primetime and alligators in New York City.
Let’s go!
DISNEY. PIXAR. MARVEL. STAR WARS.
This weekend, at their D23 fan event, Disney mapped out a mammoth amount of updates across all their brands.
There were casting updates that brought a slew of talented actors into The Walt Disney Company fold.
We had eight major updates for Disney films, which saw not just some interesting sequels but a curious live-action adaptation as well. Amongst these was some questionable CGI in Snow White.
Pixar had five significant updates, which included two original films, one starring an Emmy-winning actor. The most interesting original was a body swap film.
Four major Marvel announcements were made, including a revitalization of a key property. Plus, a Black Panther character got their own spinoff.
Three Star Wars updates were announced, including a long-awaited first-look deal. And Jon Favreau makes a glorious return.
We will soon have a full breakdown that includes the studio’s top bets, an analysis of the originals, and a project that seems primed for disaster.

This one is upsetting. Joaquin Phoenix exited Todd Haynes' Gay Romance film.
It seems this happened right before production began, with cast and crew held for weeks while a replacement actor was attempted to be found. No suitable replacement was found, and the project appears dead, with financiers holding the bag after pre-selling a number of foreign territories.
The film's legendary producer, Christine Vachon (founder Killer Films), stated this has been a nightmare as Phoenix came to her and Haynes with the project.
We were legitimately excited about this project, as we explored in our cover story on Joaquin Phoenix:

I’m sure we’ll see some upcoming legal action taken. We’re really sorry for everyone involved.
