Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) joins Amazon MGM’s Highlander remake as Heather, wife of Henry Cavill’s Connor MacLeod. The Scottish accent will be a nice touch, and Karen knows her way around action scenes. Will she get to wield a sword?
Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) joins The Shitheads, a wild road trip comedy starring Dave Franco, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Peter Dinklage. Directed by Macon Blair, the film follows two misfits transporting a rebellious teen to rehab. We don't know much about her role, just that it's a “very funny part” according to director Blair. Shipka really did a great job leading in Sabrina, and showed strong chops acting across from Pamela Anderson in The Last Showgirl.
Spawn of the Living Dead, penned by Night of the Living Dead’s John A. Russo, is moving forward. It has a big cast of horror movie icons, Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses), and Trina Parks (Diamonds Are Forever). Directed by Ani Kyd Wolf, and Shooting in Vancouver in 2026.
Indie drama Ghost Complex casts Hawkins jock, actor Clayton Royal Johnson (Stranger Things), set to join an impressive young ensemble led by Disney’s Brenna D’Amico. Production has kicked off in Oklahoma.
