Sales and distribution outfit Kino Films (dist. by Michael in Japan) secures world rights to Mentor. Japanese filmmaker and screenwriter Yoshida Keisuke (Blue), known for his gritty, character-focused dramas, sees his new film set fifteen years after a childhood accident destroyed a man’s life, with two former friends forced to confront their buried guilt.
“Half Italian/Half Jersey Boy” content creator, Davide De Pierro, is set to write and star in an in-development untitled comedy series. Both through his online presence and his book The Letters I Never Sent, De Pierro has made a name for himself by sharing his insights on love, life, and mental health. The Big Bang Theory writers Maria Ferrari and Andy Gordon will pen his upcoming series.
Jaggi Entertainment (Netflix’s This Little Love of Mine), based out of Queensland, Australia, has hired former senior Netflix exec Andre Lawson as Chief Financial Officer, as the company secures its financial team as it grows its production slate.
As part of USA Today Studios new venture into sports content they’ve signed a first-look deal with Zero Gravity Management (Netflix’s Ozark). They will partner on producing both scripted and unscripted projects based on Today’s deep sports IP vault.
