KMR. Toys R Us. SpinCo.
Update on KMR Talent, which owes its clients millions of dollars and has been unable to come up with the money.
KMR’s owner, Mark Measures, has been indicted on 40 counts, including grand larceny. He was arraigned yesterday (Tuesday, April 23rd) on charges that he owes $1.8M to 160 actors.
This comes on the heels of their suspension of their Franchise with SAG-AFTRA in March, leading the SVP to resign, as well as a top agent.
Even months before that, the 2500 talent that is repped by KMR (amongst them J.K. Simmons) has been unable to get paid.
All up, KMR’s clients are said to be owed upwards of $3M. President’s reasons for non-payment:
Crashed payment database
Head of Talent Payment resigned
Strikes
Earthquake
We hope everyone involved is remunerated.
Story Kitchen and Toys R Us Studios are developing a live-action film inspired by the iconic toy brand. Promising to pull from its vast IP, well, it may end up being a kind of clash of brands like in The Lego Movie. Story Kitchen has been pretty active lately with a high pedigree, they have recently been snatching up many IP', including video game adaptations of Dredge and Disco Elysium in the works. Story Kitchen counts Dmitri M. Johnson (Co-P: Sonic the Hedgehog 3) as a co-founder.
SpinCo, the Comcast spinoff responsible for the network’s extensive portfolio, has added to its executive leadership team.
