Good morning: In today's edition of The Industry, we look at:
Michael Fassbender's Love, Amazon's Death, Rob Eggers' Vampire's Kiss, a very bad Skincare routine, and magnets.
Let’s go!
A VAMPIRE'S KISS
Does evil come from within Rob Eggers (Dir: The Witch). His latest gothic nightmare, Nosferatu, has just dropped a much-anticipated trailer.
Here’s the official synopsis:
A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Lily-Rose Depp) and the terrifying vampire (Bill Skarsgård) infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.
The film feels ripped from the pages of an ancient gothic text. The verisimilitude, when held against those dusty tomes, is exquisite.
Eggers, who has been wanting to make this film since his early-20s stated:
"What I'm interested in is going back to the source. This is set in the 1830s when even the modern world is a little bit less modern. That's also appealing to me about this version of the story."
Eggers’ worlds are realized through macabre attention to detail, like the stark set designs of a 1630s New England farm in The Witch (2015) or the 1890s New England lighthouse to house the black and white mania of Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe in The Lighthouse (2019).
