Love Island Film, CBS’s Bridgerton
ITV America is exploring the idea of turning Love Island into a feature film. Buoyed by the breakout success of Love Island’s recent USA Season 6, CEO David George said the franchise operates more like a sport than a traditional TV show and therefore could exist in a variety of media. It’s a bit dystopian, maybe, but it could be a fun event for fans.
CBS does Bridgerton. They’ve just ordered a pilot called Regency from Tara Hernandez (Wri: CBS’s The Big Bang Theory). It’s a classic multi-cam family sitcom except set in the upper middle class of the 19th century.
New Tubi series Speed launches this week on the streamer from social media creator Kinigra Deon as her debut project. The action-packed series will follow rival street-racing pit crews and their battle for superiority, where speed determines your power.
Jeremy Zag’s animation company, Zagtoon (Miraculous), brings on TV producer Ian Lambur as EVP of the series department. He had worked in a small producing capacity at Zag years ago, but will now oversee the performance of all the company’s series across sales, production, and partnerships worldwide.
IATSE says a majority of the crew on indie drama The Gun on Second Street walked off a West Virginia set after producers refused union recognition, citing low pay, misclassification, and lack of benefits. The union has ordered members not to cross picket lines and urged producers, including exec producers Eric Swalwell and Sean Penn, to negotiate.
Hollywood hairstylist Jeffrey Alan Woodley has passed, leaving behind a client list of A-list stars like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Angela Bassett, Denzel Washington, and Eddie Murphy. The Philadelphia native’s work can be seen everywhere from talk shows to red carpets to photo shoots to film sets.
Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap (Barbie, Saltburn) has tapped Natalie Berkus (Girls) as SVP of television. Most recently at Imagine Entertainment (Apple’s upcoming The Wild Things), a veteran TV exec will start immediately at a time when the company is really beginning to boom in both TV and film.
V10 launches a free AFV FAST channel, streaming Bob Saget and Tom Bergeron episodes across platforms, debuting with a holiday edition and expanding further in 2026.
Starz acquires U.S. rights to South African action series The Nowhere Man. The series follows Lukas, a traumatized former Special Forces mercenary living quietly in Johannesburg. When he stops a violent home invasion, he is forced back into the dangerous world he tried to leave. Launching weekly on January 16, 2026, on Starz.
Two at WBD’s soon-to-be spun-off/acquired cable networks have been promoted. Joseph Boyle is now Head of Content (Discovery), and Alon Orstein is now the Head of Content (TLC).
David Leavy, the longtime aide to CEO David Zalav, is leaving the company after twenty years. Leavy was especially influential through the acquisitions of the former Scripps Network and WarnerMedia.
