Netflix landed a hot order with Lovesick, starring and executive produced by Claire Danes (Homeland) and written by House of Cards writer Sarah Treem as showrunner. The story is described as a sweeping romantic epic following a love affair between a breast cancer surgeon (Danes), who has just received her own diagnosis, and her newest patient. The Emmy winner is coming off the streamer’s hit psychological thriller miniseries The Beast in Me, becoming one of the most-watched shows of the year.
Netflix’s Smiling Friends? Netflix just greenlit adult animated comedy series Dad’s House, executive produced by Michael Cusack (Smiling Friends), Dario Russo (Danger 5), and David Ashby (Danger 5). The trio will also star in the show as voice actors. Set in a small town in Australia, the show will follow a divorced father and son as they cram quality dad-time into a single weekend. Dad’s House is another addition to Netflix’s long list of successful adult comedy animations, like BoJack Horseman, Big Mouth, and Inside Job.
