English actor Eddie Marsan (IMDb) has joined the upcoming third season of Amazon Prime Video series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in a recurring role. Marsan is best known for his present day action films and TV shows like in the Charlize Theron-led Atomic Blonde (2017) or in Showtime’s Ray Donovan (2013-2020), making his involvement in the fantastical sci-fi series a pretty significant deviation from the projects he usually goes for. The prequel show has put up major numbers for Amazon, hitting 25 M viewers in one day for the premiere of its second season last August.
The season is expected to begin filming this spring.
Bill Nighy joins Prime Video’s action-adventure series Ride or Die, starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham. Directed by Peyton Reed and showrun by Matt Miller, it follows Waddingham’s character, Judith, a secret assassin whose life unravels when a mission goes wrong. Nighy plays the mysterious “Director". This is not Nighy's first foray into action having been a part of Simon Pegg's Cornetto trilogy starting with Shaun of the Dead.
Actress and model Teresa Palmer (IMDb) (Lights Out) is the newest addition to dark comedy 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank (IMDb) alongside Liam Neeson for Amazon MGM’s Orion label. Directed by actress turned director Frankie Shaw and adapted by Matt Robinson, the heist movie is based on the 2017 graphic novel of the same name, which will see Palmer as bank manager and a love interest. Palmer bring more dimension to these romantic roles in the zombie love story Warm Bodies (2013) and last year’s The Fall Guy, as Aaron Taylor Johnson’s movie star girlfriend.
