Payal Kapadia (dir: All We Imagine as Light) is returning to Cannes as the president of the jury for the 65th Critics Week section. She won the Grand Prix in 2024 for her beautifully moving sophomore film All We Imagine as Light (trailer), celebrated for its portrayal of hope, dreams, and a longing for a better life.
Studio TF1 (sales rep: Lucky Star) has landed worldwide sales for Forsaken (L’Abandon), a true story thriller feature. Led by Anatomy of a Fall actor Antoine Reinartz, the film will chronicle the final days of a French school teacher’s life, whose death sparked outrage over secularism and freedom of speech across the country. The film is set to debut (out of competition) at Cannes.
French director Camille Delamarre (Brick Mansions) is set to direct The Godforsaken Sea, an epic period film following an elite group of sailors attempting to circumnavigate the globe alone, non-stop, and without assistance. Delamarre is known for her high-octane action films, with her newest project gearing up to be her most intense story yet. The Godforsaken Sea will be at the Cannes Film Market.
The Wing (New Zealand Film Post & Finance company) launches for International Co-Productions. The outfit will offer international producers with post-production services and equity financing mechanisms.
