Peacock. MGM+. Stallone.
Peacock Premium Plus, NBCUniversal’s $16.99/month tier, will now be sold as an add-on inside Prime Video Channels. This is Amazon’s hub where you can bundle other full streaming services like Max and Paramount+.
What NBCUniversal gets:
Access to 100M+ Prime video subscribers.
Peacock will still be available as a standalone app on Amazon’s Fire TV devices
Continuing Peacock’s placement on Sky (owner: Comcast) devices in Europe
What Amazon gets:
More subscription revenue
Enhances its sports hub. Customers get access to Sunday Night Football, Premier League, and the Olympics
Keeps Universal Pictures films in its rental/sales library
Prime Video is available on Comcast’s own cable box platform (Xfinity X1) and its streaming box (Xumo)
Bottom line, this positions Amazon as the central “one-stop hub” for streaming bundles.
Prime is also doing a separate deal with faith-based Wonder Project (Prod Co: House of David, Sketch), launching their own channel on Prime $8.99/month.
North of the border, telecom giant and TIFF sponsor Rogers is also bundling. Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+ are getting wrapped into a StreamSaver plan for $16/month.
AR Content (prod co: Michel Franco’s Dreams) revives The Specialist. The company will adapt John Shirley’s thriller into a modern drone-warfare TV series. Inspired by the original 1994 film of the same name starring Sylvester Stallone and Sharron Stone -Trailer.
Gunpowder & Sky (Prod Co: The Little Hours, Prospect) and Audible announce a new series Words + Music, with episodes already planned for artists like Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, John Legend, and Alanis Morissette. Comes to MGM+ Nov. 30
