Plan B. Film Movement. Oscilloscope.
Brad Pitt’s Plan B (F1) is expanding with a European subsidiary set to be led by Ed Macdonald, an exec behind Netflix’s Baby Reindeer from Clerkenwell Films. Plan B’s last international TV project was co-producing another British hit Netflix series, Adolescence. Plan B Europe will be based in London and will greatly increase the number of premium-tier series for the company’s international catalog.
Film Movement has acquired North American rights to Chie Hayakawa (Plan 75)’s Renoir, a suburban family drama set in 1980s Tokyo. The film was a Cannes competition title and is premiering at TIFF before a planned 2026 theatrical release. Trailer here.
Actress turned producer Catherine Davis (Code Name Banshee) has launched production company Nine Lives Entertainment with several projects already in development. These include the Michael Showalter Untitled Cyrano film and the romcom Fake Wedding starring Lili Reinhart, both for Amazon.
The director of Oscilloscope’s Always Shine (2016), Sophia Takal, is directing a horror-comedy adaptation of the satirical novel Patricia Wants to Cuddle with Votiv Films (Christy). The story blends slasher and queer romance genres, with a script also penned by Takal.
KimStim (Sundance’s Slow) has picked up Manas (2024 Venice Days). Releasing in the US in 20 cities. EP’d by Walter Salles and the Dardenne brothers. The pedigree is strong with this one.
Uwe Boll’s Run is picked up by Quiver (The Cleaner). Premiering on VOD Nov. 14.
