Reindeer. Umbrella. Vampire.
Before Baby Reindeer and Fleabag were smash hit TV shows, they were stage productions. The Tony winning production company behind the aforementioned critically and commercially successful shows, Francesca Moody Productions (FMP) has signed a first look deal with Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Wells Street Films. FMP head Moody and Waller-Bridge have an extensive history having worked together back in 2013 when the actress first created the stage version of Fleabag. The new deal is set to run for the next two years, which will give Waller-Bridge’s company the first opportunity to develop FMP’s productions for television, opening up the possibility of more eminent stage shows able to be adapted for the small screen.
The Umbrella Academy screenwriter Jesse McKeown (IMDb) is working on an untitled supernatural creature series officially greenlit by Netflix Canada. The six-episode series will be set and shot in Newfoundland and will focus on a mysterious sea creature terrorizing a remote town challenged by a hard-bitten fisherman determined to protect his family. In addition to creating the Canadian limited series, McKeown will also serve as showrunner and EP.
Netflix is adapting the hit Audible podcast Impact Winter into a series, with Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence. The apocalyptic vampire drama comes from Pacific Rim writer Travis Beacham.
