Director Ridley Scott’s upcoming film The Dog Stars with 20th Century is adding new leads. In addition to those previously announced, Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, and Guy Pearce have boarded.
Loose synopsis:
In a post-apocalyptic world, a virus wipes out humanity. Survivors face roaming scavengers called Reapers. Protagonist Hig, a pilot, survived the flu but lost his wife.
There is no word on who Qualley, Brolin, and Pearce would play, but Elordi is Hig, who finds hope when he hears a radio transmission that points to life outside the airbase where he is huddled down.
The trio of actors stepping into a Ridley Scott post-apocalyptic world is titillating. His dystopian worlds are usually very intricate, like Blade Runner or Alien, but this seems closer to the starkness of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road.
Out of the trio, Josh Brolin is most at home in sci-fi, having starred in:
Dune 1 & 2
Avengers: Endgame
Men in Black 3
Scott has strong sci-fi ties to 20th Century Fox, going back to films like The Martian (2015) and Prometheus (2012).
