Soul Patrol. Green Book.
Sundance documentary Soul Patrol lands at New York City’s own Kino Lorber for distribution. Through Super 8 film and archival footage, the deeply emotional doc reunites the Vietnam War’s first Black special operations team and looks at the toll the war took on these men and their families. Kino is planning a theatrical release this fall.
Green Book producer Charles B. Wessler is looking at Scotland for his next producing project, One Team in Glasgow. Tapping into the global soccer hype of this year, the doc gives a behind-the-scenes look at Partick Thistle, a historic soccer club that has had a lasting influence on the city of Glasgow. Wessler will EP the doc headed to Scotland’s STV by the end of the month.
Briarcliff Entertainment (U.S. distribution: Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die) acquires the rights to the holiday-comedy Christmas at the Kringles. Directed by Kevin Lewis (Willy’s Wonderland), the film follows a suburban family as they meet their new festive neighbors, who turn out to be Christmas fanatics who want to hypnotize and indoctrinate them.
Producer Lorenzo Gangarossa (Producer: Cannes Competition title Fatherland) joins Lucky Red (Italian film production) as head of international projects.
