Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day took #1 at the box office for the second weekend in a row with $144.5M domestic. Internationally, it earned $380.5M. This brings its worldwide total to $1.665bn.
As of the current numbers, it is the third biggest second weekend of all time, only behind:
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
$248M opening (vs. Brand New Day’s $360M)
$149.2M week 2 (-40%)
$936M domestic total
$2.068bn worldwide
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
$357M opening (vs. Brand New Day’s $360M)
$147.4M week 2 (-58.7%)
$858.4M domestic total
$2.8bn worldwide
Spider-Man: Brand New Day took a 60% week 2 drop, not uncommon for a film with a massive opening like that. And somewhat average for a Spider-Man film:
Spider-Man (2002) - Tobey Maguire
-37.8% week 2 drop
$810.9M worldwide
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) - Andrew Garfield
-44.2% week 2 drop
$758.7M worldwide
Spider-Man 2 (2004) - Tobey Maguire
-48.7% week 2 drop
$788.3M worldwide
Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) - Tom Holland
- 51% week 2 drop
$1.13bn worldwide
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
- 60% week 2 drop
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) - Andrew Garfield

-62.2% week 2 drop
$881M worldwide
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
-67.5% week 2 drop
$1.9bn worldwide
There are now nine live-action Spider-Man films. With the previous 8 earning a combined $7.9bn. With the two Spider-Verse films earning a combined $1.085bn, that brings Spider-Man films, not including Venom, up to $10.7bn.
That’s the highest-grossing superhero at the box office, well above Batman and Superman.
The film had a production budget of $225M and is already profitable.
Here’s the trailer.
Here’s the breakdown of the rest of the top 10:
$31.5M - The Odyssey (Universal)
$461.2M domestic total
$1.104bn worldwide
$250M budget
RT: 94%
Week 4
Nolan’s film took a very small 38% week 4 drop. That makes it the highest cumulative domestic gross for a Nolan film through its fourth weekend, above:
The Dark Knight (2008)
$158.4M opening (opened higher than The Odyssey’s $123.5M)
$441.6M week 4 domestic total
$533M domestic total
$1.004bn worldwide
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
$160.9M opening (opened higher than The Odyssey’s $123.5M)
$389.6M week 4 domestic total
$448.2M domestic total
$1.085bn worldwide
Oppenheimer (2023)
$82.4M opening (vs. The Odyssey’s $123.5M)
$264.3M week 4 domestic total
$330.1M domestic total
$975.8M worldwide
This is now Nolan’s third film to make over $1bn at the box office. And his higest-grossing of all time, not including inflation. And it’s great news for Universal, as The Odyssey has already been profitable.
$5.7M - One Night Only (Universal)
RT: 46%
Week 1
This is the sex is banned except for one-night of the year rom-com. So in terms of rom-coms that lean sci-fi starring Callum Turner (as One Night Only does), there’s a great comp in:
A24’s Eternity (2025)
Cast: Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen, Callum Turner
$3.2M opening
$5.2M domestic total (5-day weekend total)
$16.2M domestic total
$35.9M worldwide
So by that count, One Night Only is doing quite well. Although on average it opened 36% lower than the average Rom-Com.
The film also stars Monica Barbaro, who played Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown.
$4M - Super Troopers 3 (Searchlight)
RT: 49%
Week 1
This is the lowest opening for a Super Troopers film, well behind the previous:
Super Troopers (2002)
$6.2M opening
$18.5M domestic total
$23.2M worldwide
$3M budget
Super Troopers 2 (2018)
$15.2M opening
$30.6M domestic total
$31.6M worldwide
$13.5M budget
The last film did very little business internationally, so we expect this will top out below $10M.
$3.9M - Toy Story 5 (Pixar)
$470.4M domestic total
$1.091bn worldwide
$275M budget
RT: 92%
Week 9
This is now the highest-earning Toy Story film of all time, not including inflation. It beat out the previous two films, which also cracked $1bn at the box office:
Toy Story 3 (2010)
$415M domestic total
$1.067bn worldwide
Toy Story 4 (2019)
$434M domestic total
$1.073bn worldwide
This comes at a great time for Pixar as they’ve recently undergone significant staff cuts after their last two films underperformed, Hoppers ($389.5M WW on a $150M budget) and Elio ($154M WW on a $300M budget).
$3.5M - Minions & Monsters (Universal)
$176.4M domestic total
$465.4M worldwide
$85M production budget
RT: 89%
Week 6
Both of the previous Minions films earned around $1bn at the box office and opened north of $100M. By contrast, this Minions film has fallen short with a $37M opening.
The silver lining is that it fell only 42% in its sixth week.
It will become the lowest-grossing film of the 7 films in the Despicable Me universe, well behind:
Despicable Me (2010)
$56.4M opening
$251.7M domestic total
$544.2M worldwide
Luckily, the series is so popular that Minions & Monsters has already hit theatrical profitability even though it’s a big miss.
$2.8M - Moana (Disney)
$121.4M domestic total
$278.5M worldwide
$250M budget
RT: 31% (critics) 89% (audience)
Week 5
In its fifth week, Moana took a 50% drop. With a series-low opening, we now see this won’t come anywhere near recouping theatrically and will lose a lot of money for Disney.
It’s far below the previous incarnations of the film:
Moana (2016)
$248.8M domestic total
$643.3M worldwide
Moana 2 (2024)
$460.4M domestic total
$1.059bn worldwide
This will land as Disney’s 2nd lowest-performing live-action remake:
Snow White (2025)
$87.2M domestic total
$205.7M worldwide
Moana (2026)
$278.5M worldwide
Dumbo (2019)
$114.8M domestic total
$353.3M worldwide
Cinderella (2015)
$201.2M domestic total
$542.2M worldwide
There have been five Disney live-action remakes to crack $1bn at the box office (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lilo & Stitch, and Alice in Wonderland), and this will not be one of them.
This remake came out so soon after the previous Moana film that many have speculated audience fatigue is the root cause. But we believe the fact that it’s a near shot-for-shot remake is the deeper culprit.
$2M - Ice Cream Man (The Horror Section)
$5.5M budget
RT: 27% (critics) 48% (audience)
Week 1
This is a low opening for an Eli Roth-directed horror film. Compare with his previous:
Thanksgiving (2023)
$10.3M opening
Death Wish (2018)
$13M opening
Hostel: Part II (2007)
$8.2M opening
Hostel (2005)
$19.6M opening
Roth has been wanting to make this film for some time, so hats off to him for going outside the studio system. We hope it recoups.
$717.6K - The Invite (A24)
$24.3M domestic total
$42.4M worldwide
Picked up by A24 at Sundance for $12M+
RT: 96%
Week 7 (fifth in wide release)
The Sundance buzz, the starry cast (Olivia Wilde, Seth Rogen, Edward Norton, Penélope Cruz), and the stellar reviews paid off! This title is now profitable for A24. Good news, as it’ll continue to play theatrically before it moves into ancillary markets.
A24 executed its typical prestige-film strategy here: slowly drip-feeding the film into theaters:
Week 1 - $54K/screen average (7 screens)
Week 2 - $25K/screen average (28 screens)
Week 3 - $3.5K/screen average (1610 screens)
Week 4 - $1.7K/screen average (2110 screens)
Week 5 - $1.3K/screen average (2032 screens)
And now, they’re slowly starting to pull it out of theaters:
Week 6 - $1.6K/screen average (792 screens)
Week 7 - $2.1K/screen average (342 screens)
The director is Olivia Wilde, whose previous features all did decently:
Booksmart (2019)
$6.9M opening
$22.7M domestic total
$25M worldwide
Don’t Worry Darling (2022)
$19.4M opening
$45.3M domestic total
$87.6M worldwide
It won’t get anywhere close to Don’t Worry Darling, but this is a strong Oscar contender for the acting categories.
$568.4K - CatVideoFest 2026 (Oscilloscope)
Week 1
$2.2K/screen average
This is the highest opening CatVideoFest film of all time (yes there are more!). CatVideoFest 2025 earned $460K in its opening weekend, totaling $1.3M worldwide. CatVideoFest 2024 opened at $380K and topped out at $1M worldwide.
Here are the lowest-grossing films of the week:
$38K - Late Fame (Magnolia and Killer Films)
Premiere: Venice Film Festival
Cast: Willem Dafoe and Greta Lee
$19K /screen average
Week 1
$30K - Olmo (Greenwich Entertainment)
Premiere: Berlin
$588 /screen average
Week 1
$7.2K - The Death of Robin Hood (A24)
$5.3M domestic total
$6.1M worldwide
Cast: Hugh Jackman
$721 /screen average
Week 8
A24’s Tony earned $349K in its opening weekend. This had a massive per-screen average of $58.2K/screen across 6 theaters. The film stars Dominic Sessa as Anthony Bourdain. It also stars Antonio Banderas, Emilia Jones and Leo Woodall.
Mubi’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma earned $251.5K in its opening weekend. This had a massive per-screen average of $50.3K/screen across 5 theaters. The film premiered at Cannes and stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson. Directed by Jane Schoenbrun.
