Nine years ago Polish director Michał Marczak won the directing prize at Sundance for his visceral documentary drama All These Sleepless Nights (2016, trailer) and is now back taking on a new harrowing story with Closure. The film follows a father as he scours the depths of Poland’s Vistula River in search of his missing teenage son. The story came to Marczak when he met the film’s main subject, Daniel, as he was on the river and knew this was a story that had to be told.
Chris Chibnall, showrunner for Dr. Who, & Broadchurch, is having his debut novel adapted into a series with ITV drama. Set in Fleetcombe, it follows Detective Nicola Bridge solving a pub landlord’s murder. Anyone who has seen Broadchurch knows this is very much Chibnall’s strong suit, the first season perfectly wrapped an intriguing mystery in a small town slice of life portraying very realistic grief. No word yet on release date for the new series, but it's entering pre-pro.
Broadchurch season 1 is really worth a watch, the other seasons are great too. But David Tennant really nails it with this one, the whole cast is incredible.
For gods sake, bloody twitter!
