Adrien Brody, A24 and a Teacup.

Let’s go!

Thanks to everyone who came to our virtual event last night. It was really great to deep dive the odyssey that is indie filmmaking. Your questions and enthusiasm meant a lot to me and the Ross Brothers.

THE INDUSTRY NEWS

The God of the Woods. Riverhead Books.

Sony Pictures Television loves a good book adaptation!

SPT just wrapped filming this past spring on Long Bright River, an upcoming thriller series premiering this year on Peacock based on the 2020 novel written by author Liz Moore.

Sony has just acquired the rights to two more of Moore’s novels, The God of the Woods (2024) and The Unseen World (2016), for series development.

Synopsis of The God of the Woods:

In the summer of 1975, 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar vanishes from a summer camp owned by her family. Barbara’s brother also went missing two decades prior. Though he was never found, it is widely believed that the culprit was a landscaper who subsequently died. But many of the people have a different theory - one that involves another member of the Van Laar family.

Synopsis of The Unseen World:

Ada Sibelius is raised by David, her brilliant, eccentric, socially inept single father, who directs a computer science lab in 1980s-era Boston. Home-schooled, Ada accompanies David to work every day; by twelve, she is a painfully shy prodigy. When his mind begins to falter, Ada is taken in by one of David’s colleagues. Soon after, she embarks on a mission to uncover her father’s secrets.

In addition to the multiple book adaptations, Sony has just signed a multi-year developmental deal with Anxo Rodriguez’s Espotlight, a Spanish production house recently started in 2020.
