Rachel Shukert, the writer behind Peacock’s The Burbs and Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club, has not only struck an overall deal with Universal Studio Group but has two series adaptations in the works. Listen for the Lie follows a woman accused of murdering her best friend, but has no memory of the last night they spent together, the night she died. The second series is based on a Judy Blume classic, Summer Sisters, that looks at the two-decade-long friendship between two women who spend their summers together.
Amazon MGM Studios is joining the Mile High Club. Alongside Counterpoint Pictures, T.L. Swan’s bestselling romance series The Miles High Club is being adapted for the small screen, following four ridiculously handsome and rich brothers whose bachelor empire is turned upside down by a group of brilliant women. There is currently a search for a writer to adapt the series.
Former Amazon exec Glenn Gainor’s Hollywood Ventures Group has optioned a homeland security expert’s memoir, Inside the Castle Walls. Dr. Erroll Southers worked in counterterrorism for over two decades, with his story detailing his experience at the highest levels of security and governance.
