Webtoon. Versant. Roadhouse 2.
Webtoon Entertainment has rebranded its North American division as Webtoon Productions to expand adaptations of its IP. Lots of restructuring: David Madden becomes president, Maximilian Jo leads strategy, and Tina McIntyre heads consumer goods. Webtoons has made a mission out of adapting their IP in a variety of ways, most recently having projects for Tubi and Netflix, including Lore Olympus and Death of a Pop Star.
Comcast’s Versant has brought on Christian McLaughlin as the new SVP of live entertainment. He will oversee and work closely with producers, showrunners, and writers to build the live event business across the company’s entire entertainment portfolio.
Media company Nielsen has named Richard Pacheco as Head of Global Partnerships. He will work to maintain and build new alliances with ad tech firms to drive better business outcomes for marketers while identifying new growth opportunities.
Wheelhouse Entertainment (History Channel’s Assembly Required) hires former Paramount exec Jessica Zalkind as EVP of Talent and Development. In her new role she is tasked with scouting talent for the company’s television and streaming series.
Guy Ritchie gets knocked out by Roadhouse 2. The director responsible for Snatch and some other great punch-ups has left the project. Amazon MGM’s sequel to the 2024 Jake Gyllenhaal-led remake also ran into problems, too, with a very public falling out with director Doug Liman. No new director is currently set to step in, and plot details are tightly under wraps.
