Interesting that Warner Bros is looking at building a new studio complex in Las Vegas....and Sony is as well. With the costs to shoot in CA most productions shoot outside of CA as well as outside the USA.

Hopefully, the $750 M CA tax incentive passes, bringing business back to the state. Otherwise, many producers and directors feel it is no longer viable to make a film in the US, when international shooting costs are cheaper and many countries have high tax incentives (30% Hungary, 25% Bulgaria). If the CA incentive passes, I hope that CA can allocate a larger portion of the funds to indie films. Currently, only 10% of the $115.5 M allocated for film each year goes to features budgeted under $10 M.
