I sat down with Danny DeVito, Lucy DeVito, and Jake DeVito at SXSW to interview them for their new film, Drag, from their production company, Jersey Films 2nd Avenue.
Drag synopsis:
Two burglars (Lucy and Lizzy Caplan) face disaster during a simple home heist when one suffers a back injury. As the clock ticks and pain sets in, their escape becomes increasingly chaotic before the owner's return.
Part of the genius of producing this film is keeping 95% of it in a single location. This elevates the entire premise, making it more hilarious, more claustrophobic, and more silly, accentuating the physical comedy.
Here are some of the first look images:
Danny DeVito’s first company, Jersey Films, produced some of the top films in the span of a decade:
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Get Shorty (1995)
Gattaca (1997)
Erin Brockovich (2000)
Along Came Polly (2004)
Garden State (2004)
His new company is Jersey Films 2nd Avenue, behind:
Curmudgeons (2016)
Premiere: BFI and Tribeca
FXX’s Little Demon (2022)
Prime’s Game 7 (2024)
Drag has a rich lexicon of physical comedy. It’s a wild premise. And we’re really excited for everyone to see it.
