Katarina Zhu -Dir/Wri/Star of Utopia's Bunnylovr - Interview

I sat down with Katarina Zhu, the writer, director, producer, and star of Utopia's Bunnylovr, which premiered at Sundance.

Here is the synopsis:

A cam girl navigates a toxic client relationship while reconnecting with her estranged, dying father, exploring complex relationships and family dynamics.

It’s a wildly impressive feature debut, and I was curious to see how Katrina navigated directing and acting.

Zhu shared:

“You have to use two different parts of your brain. When you’re acting it feels like you almost have to turn off the critical thinking part of your brain, you have to be so present that your mind is almost like vacant. I feel that with acting. And with directing it feels like it’s the opposite, where you have to be so tapped in and tuned in.”

Here is the trailer:

Utopia is releasing theatrically on April 10th.
