The Luckiest Man in America. IFC Films.

I sat down with Golden Globe and Emmy winner Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell, Black Bird, Cruella) to discuss his latest film, The Luckiest Man in America.

Here’s the synopsis:

1984, Michael Larson (Hauser), an unemployed ice-cream truck driver from Ohio, steps onto the game show "Press Your Luck" harboring a secret: the key to endless amounts of money. But his winning streak gets threatened when the executives in the control room start to uncover his real motivations.

Paul discussed how a small guest role on It’s Always Sunny in Philidaphia early in his career helped him get into the character of Michael Larson.

He also broke down his interest in playing real people (to date, he’s played seven):

“There's something about true stories where I feel like there's more interest going into the film. It's like the greatest intellectual property is reality. So, you know, that's my favorite IP.”

He also shared some wise words for actors on navigating director disagreements.

Here’s the trailer for The Luckiest Man in America. The film hits theaters on April 4th.
