Neon’s latest film is The Actor.
I sat down with the director and co-writer Duke Johnson (Dir: Anomalisa) to discuss how he crafted this wonderfully surreal film starring André Holland (Moonlight).
Along the way, we discuss his friendship with Charlie Kaufman (and his beautifully odd theory of touch), how he created some of the wild in-camera effects sequences in the film, and, of course, cosmic destiny.
Here’s the synopsis:
When New York actor Paul Cole (Holland) is beaten and left for dead in 1950s Ohio, he loses his memory and finds himself stranded in a mysterious small town where he struggles to get back home and reclaim what he's lost.
This is Johnson’s first live-action feature.
